The ski helmet that adjusts itself to the head shape. Completely new on the market, the cool helmet from Valley brings a whole lot of performance from the medical technology field. It adjusts itself automatically to the shape of the head. Several cushioned chambers are filled with beads that can be pushed away or compacted. VACO12 is the name of the technology, which apart from its optimal adjustability also offers another crucial safety aspect.

Energy is spread out on impact

The bead cushion has another advantage of crucial importance: If you fall, the dynamic energy of the impact is spread across a large number of beads, as in a wave, and thus distributed over a large area – the blow is cushioned. The flexible and shatter-proof guard on the front of the helmet serves as an additional impact crush zone. The small details have not been forgotten either: Thanks to a magnetic sealing system, the chin belt can be safely closed, even with cold, damp fingers. From medical technology to sport: The VACO12 system was until now deployed in medical technology, in splints from the company OPED. In these, a cushion filled with beads from which the air is then removed is used by trauma surgeons to immobilize injuries and fractures to the arms and legs. The beads are now being used in the sports sector for the first time. At the ispo 2010, this new invention was nominated for the “brand new award”. Ultimately, protection is still better than the treatment of injuries – even if they are both effective using these small plastic beads.
